Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian German film and TV actress best known for her performances in movies such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. Born the only child to Romanian actress Valentin Platareu, Alexandra began her career in show business in the early years of her life. At the age of 16, she reached the age of sixteen, she had secured leading roles in several shows on television. Her critically acclaimed role in the film made for television Der Tunnel paved way for other notable roles including Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge, in the critically and commercially successful Oscar nominated historical war drama film Downfall. The Reader, Der Baader Meinhof Komplex as well as The Reader are also Oscar-nominated films featuring the diva. Alexandra's career has seen her work on a number of significant national and international productions. Some of these include the British biographical film Control, the Greek drama movie The Dust of Time, and the French historical mini-series Napoleon. She was also in the jury panel of the Transylvania International Film Festival, as well as at the Cannes Film Festival.
