Mary Eileen McDonnell is an American actress who has worked on television, film and on stage. She was born on April 28 in 1952. She was awarded the Academy Award nod for the role she was as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. In addition to this role McDonnell is known for her portrayal of Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) as the wife of the president in Independence Day as well as her role in the lead as Donnie Darko's mother.
